Part of the Note series, a body of work inspired by repeated walks through the South Downs. As with other paintings in the series, musicality and landscape are intertwined: the horizontal lines running across the surface echo the structure of a musical stave, where the rhythms of walking, weather and terrain meet the inner rhythms of thought and memory.
The muted palette, soft greens, pale ochres, and worn earth tones, creates a sense of surfaces aged by time and exposure.
