Two Sails began with the creation of a surface. It's made on paper, built up with canvas and gesso. I wanted it to feel timeless, as if it had always existed, without grounding it in anything literal. The two dark forms leaned into each other, the way sails do when a boat is caught between one direction and the next. The red line came last and it sits almost like the deck of a boat.
Mixed media on paper. Canvas and gesso for the texture, scored and reworked by hand. Printed as a limited edition giclée print on archival cotton rag paper with a deckled edge, hand-signed and numbered. It carries the embossed JW•A seal, marking it as an authentic John Worth Edition.
