Caburn Note #27 is mixed media on wood panel. Canvas, shells, gesso and plaster were built up in the surface until it held a timeless quality. Buried in the texture are five lines representing a musical stave. This is a painting about sound as much as sight.
The pale curved line that runs through the piece, the one that looks like bone, echoes the ridge of Mount Caburn seen from its side. Mount Caburn is an ancient burial ground full of bones. On my walks I have noticed that line more times than I could count. I didn't plan it. It just turned up in this work.
It's a Lewes-made piece, part of an ongoing series of Caburn Notes.
It is a limited edition giclée print on archival cotton rag paper with a deckled edge, hand-signed and numbered, carrying the embossed JW•A seal that marks it as an authentic John Worth Edition.
